County Lines

Jason Evens from Fearless (Crimestoppers) came to visit the Big1’s session. He spoke to the young people about the dangers of county lines and the ease in which you can be vulnerable to it. It was an interesting experience for some, and one that they will remember, mostly because we still managed to have fun whilst talking about it.

Halloween

Everyone loves Halloween and we gave every young person who attends the youth group the opportunity to carve their own pumpkin. With safety tools in hand, it soon became a screaming mess. Nevertheless, it was a pleasure to support the young people to be a part of the holiday, as most would not have the financial opportunity to do so.

Communication

We have core values that aim to support young people from falling into N.E.E.T (not in education, employment or training). To achieve this we tailor our youth group sessions to improve, emotional and mental wellbeing, confidence, anti-social behaviour, integration, resilience, family relationships, school attendance and communication skills. Below is a simple communication activity that can be done anywhere.

Picture Perfect

We got creative with the Big 1’s youth group and rather that fighting to get them off of their phones, we encouraged them to look at them differently. Using panorama and framing camera tricks, they began to feel creative. Most had never heard of the panorama setting, but they sure had fun using it.
